"It Creates A Community": Metal 2 The Masses Returns To Club 85

Since 2017, Club 85 in Hitchin has seen hundreds of bands compete in Metal To The Masses, a competition giving bands the chance to play the iconic Bloodstock Festival in Derbyshire.

This year sees bands like Vampyra, Headcount and Hereward all sharing the stage for a chance to play the iconic festival.

“A competition like this is really, really good,” venue owner Bob Mardon says. “It creates a community, a brotherhood, and it really does support new talent.”

Outside of the competition, Club 85 is currently in the process of being saved, with various fundraising gigs helping to ensure the venue’s future.
