For a band only coming to fruition in May 2024, Norwich based STRUCK A NERVE are already proving themselves a force to be reckoned with: debut single "Nocturnal Terror" put them on the map; follow-up release "Inside The Torture Fortress" continued the barrage; and now new release "Parade of Violence" puts the band on a hard hitting streak.

Following the release of "Parade", I had a chance to talk to the band about the track and what we can expect in the near future.

R: First of all, congratulations on your latest single "Parade of Violence". How has the reaction been?

S: Thank you! Yeah, it's been amazing to be honest. It's one of our favourite songs on the upcoming album, and we've loved playing it live, so to see people reacting so positively has been awesome.

We've really tried to keep things word-of-mouth, so it's been incredible to see it streaming so well. We've had so many new fans reaching out to us over the last month. It's been great!

"We're aiming to be the perfect mix of the old and new ... fast, savage thrash with a bit of that modern grit"

Who are some of your main inspirations as a band?

We all have fairly different tastes broadly, but we all share a love for old-school metal and thrash. Slayer and Exodus are probably our shared favourite old-school thrash bands that directly influence us. But we love loads of newer stuff like Power Trip, Enforced, Pest Control, and Chemicide. I think there's definitely some of that more crossover/hardcore filters through to our stuff.

How would you sell yourselves to people who don't know you?

We're aiming to be the perfect mix of the old and new. We just want to make fast, savage thrash with a bit of that modern grit. We want to inject even more excitement into the thrash scene that is doing so well at the moment.

What's on the "Struck A Nerve" bucket list?

It's a really exciting time for us at the moment. We'll have another single coming out in August, and we're currently finishing up the last touches of the debut album. That'll be ready for September-October time! We're also now booking up a UK tour in August with some of our friends from abroad - we'll be announcing that pretty soon! It's going to be an awesome line up, so we can't wait.

And lastly - what do you think the UK metal scene will look like in 5 years?

At the moment, the UK metal scene is really healthy. We have a crossover and blackened thrash boom happening right now which is amazing! Even in our hometown of Norwich which is pretty quiet and out of the way, the scene is absolutely amazing.

There's some bands like Pest Control and Devastator that I hope keep growing. We have some incredible local bands like Berenice who I hope blow up too.

It's a really great time for a thrash band like ours, who have a foot in a couple of different genres. There's so many other bands out there that we can play with, and it's awesome. Hopefully that continues!
