It's been a short while (a couple of years to be more precise), but KARMA'S PUPPET are back with a bang with a new set up and a new release, "Fall With Me". Blending synths and orchestration with hard hitting rock riffage, the band are quickly re-establishing themselves as one to watch.
Following the release of the track, I spoke to the band, getting the chance to go behind the track and how the band has developed.
R: Hey guys! Great to have you on the page. How've you been?
K: Hey Riley! We’ve been good. It’s been a busy few months behind the scenes with one thing and another but we’re looking forward to getting back out there and in particular, getting back to some more live shows.
Congratulations on your new release "Fall With Me". How has it felt bringing new music out?
Time just seems to go so fast. Weird to think that our last album "Where The Old Roots Grow" was almost two years ago. The album was quite a varied mix of tracks, some of which go right back to the early days of the band.
So, we’re really hyped to have something brand new and fresh out there. Especially as the band has developed and grown quite a bit since many of those songs were written. It’s nice to have something out there which reflects where we are and who we are now.
"[It's] a direction we’re very keen to explore further as time goes on"
What were some of the main inspirations behind the track?
When it comes to inspiration, we try to come at thing with a very open mind. It’s so easy to get tied down by a genre specific style or sound and we wanted to simply create something which was fun to listen to (as well as play, of course).
Every member of the band brings their own unique ideas and flavours to the songwriting recipe, which span such a huge range of inspirations, across a multitude of genres both in and outside of metal. "Fall With Me" is such a great example of this. This song is much more conceptually based too, which brings with it other avenues of inspiration and ideas. A direction we’re very keen to explore further as time goes on so, watch this space.
Going back to your last album, how has the band developed since then?
It’s fair to say that since the album, we have embraced the use of orchestration and the more liberal inclusion of synthesisers, strings and other instruments, to add another level of depth to the “Karma’s Puppet sound”.
This initially started off in a live context, as we started to incorporate a backing track system, enabling us to breathe new life into some of our older material, but this has understandably led to new directions and possibilities when it comes to writing new songs too. We’d like to think that this adds a whole new and exciting level to our music, but without compromising our dedication to solid song crafting…. Kind of a ‘having your cake and eating it’ sort of thing.

Again, the new track sounds great. Is this a taste of things to come?
At this stage we can’t say too much about what’s to come. However, we find ourselves in the very privileged position of sharing ‘Fall With Me’ with everyone, but at the same time maintaining a huge level of excitement for what is yet to come…
Thanks for coming on.
Thanks so much for having us and hope to catch you again soon.
