L.O.C Talk New Release ‘Family Values’ And Future Plans: “Nothing Will Stop Us!”

Sometimes, a band needs little introduction and simply lets the riffs do the talking instead. Such is the case with Yorkshire four piece L.O.C. Blending aggression and groove, the band have gone from strength to strength in only a matter of months, getting traction and generating hype around the UK's underground metal scene.

In the run up to their new release 'Family Values' (out now at the time of publishing), I had the pleasure of speaking with frontman and guitarist Adam to find out a bit more about the band.

R: Hi Adam! Thanks for getting involved. How have you been?

A: Hi Riley, I've had a rough couple of weeks to be honest. I've had a severe sinus infection so it's been fun getting this release sorted as I've been so ill. As always though, we have pushed through and got it done. One thing I can tell you about L.O.C is that nothing will stop us!

You've just released your new single 'Family Values'. Can you tell me a bit about the track? 

Well the track is short and relentless! We love the energy of this track and it's a favourite to play live. We actually open our set with it. The subject matter covered in the track addresses betrayal by someone close to you. The term family isn't specific to blood relatives but more a general term for those who we see as closer than just a friend.

I think at some point in our lives we have all experienced being let down and betrayed by someone close to us so I'm sure 'Family Values' will strike a chord with our listeners.

What's your writing process like as a band? 

We just get in the rehearsal room and go for it. We have great chemistry so we tend to start with an idea or concept and just build from there. We also scrap anything that isn't working for us. Colin Richardson, who produces and mixes our stuff, is always at hand to offer his input too. It's a huge advantage as Colin is an absolute industry heavyweight, having produced and mixed for the likes of Slipknot, Machine Head, and Trivium.

This year has also brought some excellent live opportunities for you, including festival slots. What have been some of your favourite live moments so far? 

The absolute favourite has to be our first show together at Stirling Castle in Bridlington. To see a venue packed and excited to see you when it's your first ever show is something else. It really made us feel like we were at the start of something special.

Every live show we have done so far has been amazing though. When we hit that stage a switch just flicks and we are in the zone. It's such a buzz and I'm sure that the audience feel it too.

Another thing is you've only been a full band for about 10 months. How have you developed and grown in that time?

I think our sound and style has certainly developed. The aggression, speed and finesse of our tracks improves weekly. The songs just keep getting better too. I'm excited to see where it takes us as we are developing all the time.

6. I also love that you're incredibly active on socials, often doing Q+A posts and responding to fans. Why do you think it's so important to build that rapport? 

If people are supporting what you do then I think it's important to show gratitude and appreciation. The people following us and supporting us are our life force. Without them we are just some guys playing music. The social media thing is brilliant because it gives us a means to keep in touch with people and to show our appreciation. I try to reply to every message and comment we get because if someone has made the effort to react, then I want them to know how much it means to us. We may not always be in a position to do this, but while we are I always will.

And lastly, following this release, what can you tell me about your plans for the rest of 2026 and into 2027?

Well we have a few shows lined up before the end of the year then we play to start venturing further afield in 2027. We are also planning a CD release before the end of the year as we are getting asked for a physical release constantly. We also plan wherever possible to release a new track every month or so. The main objective is to keep pushing harder all the time. We won't be stopped, I can tell you that for a fact! If you don't already know who L.O.C are, you soon will!
