"Lace And Cigarettes, Darkness And Ash": SAN VITO RYDER Invites You To "Room Two Five"

Music and theatre have always gone hand in hand, two mediums sharing common ground and audiences. And for London based SAN VITO RYDER, the line between the two is rather blurred. His Valentines Day show blended spoken word with raucous performances, and his eye for the theatrics extends into visual identities and single artworks.
Ahead of the release of his new single, "Room Two Five", I was able to speak with San Vito to find out a bit more about his style, inspirations, and why theatre and music are inherently connected. But where is "Room Two Five"?
R: Congratulations on the release of "Room Two Five"! Can you tell me a bit about the story behind the track?
SV: "I somehow found myself in Room Two Five of God’s Motel, walking barefoot, hearing voices that are like my friends".
Those who listen can figure out if it's a real place or not; maybe it's somewhere in between.

How would you describe your style of music?
It’s speakeasy punk… hearing it makes me think of lace and cigarettes, darkness and ash.
"I think performances become more powerful when worlds bleed into each other"
Who are some of your biggest influences or inspirations?
Dale Barclay for his grace, Iggy Pop for his time in Berlin, and Kristian Bell for mastering chaos.

You combine a lot of spoken word and theatre in your performances - why do you think it's so important to share this?
Art belongs together, why have them separate? Music, theatre, spoken word, film… they all help us feel what we can’t feel on our own. I think performances become more powerful when worlds bleed into each other a bit.
And lastly, what does the rest of the year look like for you?
After the release of "Room Two Five" look out for more artistic gatherings and gigs across the country, as well as performing and writing. I hope to see you there x
