2025 has already seen South England's SUMMONERS reach the verge of breakout status: international radio coverage, overwhelmingly positive reviews, and sold out support slots. It's clear that the band are on a hot streak right now. It's only right, then, that the streak is continued with new release "The Fear".
Previous track "Spite" already proved Summoners to be masters of their craft, creating tracks that straddled the line between groovy dance and infectious rock. Here, the track falls slightly more into the rock category, capturing that alt rock, almost Foo Fighters-esque sound. The catchy, upbeat energy still remains though, and is as infectious as ever, with the lead guitar motif throughout particularly standing out.
Palm muted riffs and punchy drums are at the forefront here, delivering something that will no doubt please modern rock enthusiasts.
Around the halfway point, the track gives way to a breakdown/bridge section that will no doubt go down a storm live. If this is Summoners presenting a case for themselves to play bigger, arena-sized venues, it should definitely be taken seriously.

Beneath the distortion and catchy riffs, a resonant message sifts through - fighting past the insecurities and pressures, instead looking at self acceptance and growth. The rock scene has always been unafraid to touch on topics of mental health, and in doing so here, Summoners are able to connect with their audience.
With an EP launch on near distant horizons, Summoners aren't slowing down. If "Spite" paved the way, "The Fear" clears the path. It's clear that the only way now is up.
