"Cambridge's Best Boy Band" Is Back As BANGKITAN Release Anthemic New Single 'Eating Myself Alive'

Now, I'm not saying more bands should have dinosaurs on the front artwork, but it's a surefire way to get any guy instantly saying "hell yeah". The latest band to adopt this tactic is Cambridge's BANGKITAN. It's been a short while since their previous release 'Diabolist', and so they're subtly reminding you of the powerhouse they are with brand new single 'Eating Myself Alive'.
Rarely do I feel that grassroots bands manage to carve a sound so specific to them, but Bangkitan have absolutely smashed that aspect of things. The band wear their influences on their sleeves (a bit of Linkin Park, a bit of Bring Me The Horizon, a dash of Turnstile) but there's no sense of imitation. That definitive sound I've loved with each of their previous releases is just as prevalent here, right down to the nice little arcade machine startup/glitch sound effect around the 2:15 mark.
At times, the vibe is moshing, bouncing around, and I'm keeping my wits about me; seconds afterwards, it's arms in the air, swaying along to vocalist Owl's powerful delivery. A standard Bangkitan track.
It's easy to see where the time in between this and last release 'Diabolist' has gone, the band continuing to carve and refine their sound. If the former lent into the band's heavier, angrier tendencies, here is an exploration of their more melodic, softer side - arms extended out for a comforting hug as the riffage hits relentlessly. It's a sound Bangkitan are describing as 'Big Brothercore' (because in 2026, anything can be '-core' if you dream it).
The trajectory already seen since 2024's debut single has been incredible, especially as they have been on my radar for pretty much this whole time. With some incredible traction and support so far from BBC Introducing, Kerrang's Fresh Blood, and local Cambridge gig venues, propsects continue to look good for the city's self professed best boy band.
Who do we have to slide a fiver across to get Bangkitan on a bigger stage?
