The joy of running this page and doing what I do is getting to discover bands I unlikely would otherwise. As such, one new band to recently come on my radar is Lincoln based DEADLY CHANGES. The band straddle the often thin line between hard rock and traditional metal, and have recently released their debut single "Ride Or Die".
The band's influences are incredibly evident within the first few notes, the main guitar riff likely to draw comparison to Dio's "Stand Up and Shout". It's not exactly the same, but it was close enough I had to go back and check just to reaffirm myself. Gang vocals in the chorus make a perfect excuse for easy crowd participation, and there's plenty here to love for NWoBHM diehards: fast paced solo, shouting main vocals, barrages of angst and energy. This is the sort of music that would thrive in a small, sweaty, intimate venue.
Metal, as a genre, is always evolving. For better or for worse, it's only expected to see the genre reach new limits as bands like Sleep Token and President open up conversations of what it really means to be a metal band. That said, it's also a genre that loves to reminisce on the classics, ushering in a collective of bands that market themselves on familiarity. If the more experimental stuff doesn't quite scratch that itch, it's always nice knowing there'll be something familiar to go back to. Deadly Changes aren't trying to reinvent any wheel, they're simply having fun playing a fun subgenre of metal.

With only one single released, it's hard to tell the full scope of what else the band might have in store, especially when grouped with others doing the same thing, but "Ride Or Die" certainly puts things off to a promising start.
