Since 2018, GODETH have been carving away, refining their sound as a modern heavyweight of underground metal. With new track "Leeches", the band cement themselves as a formidable force, delivering groove-laden, face contorting death metal.
A siren-sounding guitar starts the track. It sounds dissonant, jarring, perfectly chaotic. Strap yourself in, we're heading for some good shit.
The drums sound perfect, thanks to the strong production by Adam Gadsby, delivering a heavy punch through the instrumentation. The track packs a powerful punch, hitting you straight away and showing no mercy until the ending. There's no sense of easing in here - Godeth aren't holding back.
The whole track is a three and a half minute burst of unrelenting, crushing power - if it's aggression you want, it's aggression you're getting. The riffage is chunky and chuggy in equal measures, and the vocals are enough to scare a small child or an elderly relative.

However, beneath the aggression there is still plenty of groove. The rhythm is headbang-able, and it feels good in the body.
Perhaps, though, the track's strongest aspect is its ending - it builds, gets you riled up, and then stops abruptly. You're full of energy now, desperate for more. Hungry for more.
Godeth have you in the palm of their hand and they're not letting go.
Godeth are set to play Mangata Festival on the 12th July.
