New year means new bands to look out for. My latest search takes me to Wolverhampton, with metal band This Fallen City. With their new track "Nightmares", the band are two for two, delivering an effective follow-up to their debut single released last year.
Groovy riffs, heavy drums and strong vocals are at the forefront here - these are all ingredients of a great metal track, here blended together with a dash of metalcore.
The energy is very much carrying the track, it's hard to not feel your foot tapping or your head gently nodding along. This is a song built for fist-pumping, jumping and clapping along, reinforced by the opening guitar riff and the thumping kick drum throughout.
The band are tight in their craft, and are well refined in their performances. It's clear to see the heights the band have set their eyes on - this is a sound built for arenas.
"Nightmares" sees the band continue to build the groundwork they started with their debut release "Danger". At the rate these guys are going, good prospects are ahead.
Just one thing - more growls in the next release please. Those end vocals hit hard.
"Nightmares" is out NOW on streaming services
