"Shattered Mirror": High Energy, Angst-Inducing Post Hardcore From MOTIONS

Teeside hardcore metallers MOTIONS have released their latest track "Shattered Mirror", pulling no punches and hitting hard. The release marks the first since their 2023 self titled album, which was released to appraise.
The opening riff is dark and expressive, joined in with a nice lead guitar melody over the top. Straight away, the energy is high, driving home the post hardcore sound.
Structurally, the track takes a little time getting used to; the vocals initially sound off with the rhythm, like they're fighting it rather than complementing, but it finds its footing pretty quickly (and is also helped by repeated listens).
The choruses balances melody with intensity, and appropriate angst is scattered throughout. A bridge section offers brief respite, pulling back slightly, but that feeling is instantly shattered (much as the track name suggests) when a breakdown sees the intensity dialled back up to 11.
This marks a bold new era for the band, and so it's only right that it is celebrated with an equally bold track.
"Shattered Mirror" is out NOW on streaming platforms
