Glasgow's ESCAPE GOATS Fall Into Place With Alt Rock "Rompecabezas"

Glasgow three-piece ESCAPE GOATS might have only formed in 2024, but have so far have had a pretty good run: a slot on BBC Introducing, a support slot for Sluts of Trust, and work towards a debut album due for release later this year.
Ahead of the album, the band have released "Rompecabezas" (Spanish for "puzzle"), seeing the band combine pseudowords, distorted guitars and punchy drums to produce a three minute blast of alt rock flavour.
Straight away, there is a distinct groove to the track, almost waltzy, making it easy to sway along to. During the verse, the guitars become palm muted, and the vocals lead the way. There's no fancy decoration or technique, but the simplicity here is its effectiveness, reeling you in and wriggling into your ear.

The chorus is jaunty and upbeat, the guitars changing into swelling, arpeggiated chords, the full band playing refined and tightly (a contrast to the lyrical content of being pulled in different directions). Dual vocals add an element of angst, again showing the band's dynamic range, but it stays firmly in the alternative rock lane.
A change of rhythm accompanies the track going into slightly faster, fuzzier territory, the dual vocals growing in intensity, before a short instrumental solo section acts as the segue back to the groove from before. By the time the track ends, the band have done their job - you're left wanting more, which is exactly the correct feeling ahead of an album release.

"Rompecabezas" is out NOW on streaming platforms
Escape Goats' debut album is due out end of 2025
