"Summit": Brilliantly Bonkers Art Rock From LE BONE

If Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka switched up careers and started a rock band, it would probably sound a bit like LE BONE. One of the most unique rock bands to emerge out of Wolverhampton (or anywhere, really), the band straddle musical skill with artful absurdity, creating music that is as catchy as it is eclectic.
Ahead of their upcoming album "Pink and Brown", the band have released "Summit". The release sees the weirdness upped - circus sound effects, psychedelic visuals, and a blatantly obvious political message.
The track starts straight away with a prog rhythm, showcasing the band's technical abilities. The keys play a particularly funfair-esque melody, and the repeated synth sound scratches the brain in all the right places. By the time of the chants of "ooh ahh" start, interest is undeniably piqued - I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but I'm having a whole lot of fun.
The first half of the track is joyful and contagiously upbeat, leaning into the infectious bizarreness of it all. Technically, the band are tight and well refined, and the production is strong. This plays a huge part in making it as fun as it is.

The track transitions around the three and a half minute mark, turning into an almost hyper electro, synth-heavy pop track. There's arpeggiated chords, synth melodies, and plenty of 'boing' sound effects. It feels like I have taken a shit ton of mushrooms and woken up in a fever dream.
There's some things about the human mind AI will never to be able to replicate - here is one of them.
It's the sort of song that shouldn't really work on paper, but absolutely does - a testament to the band's ability to blend genres, making something that is genuinely a challenge to pigeonhole into a single genre.
If "Summit" is a microdose, "Pink and Brown" will be the full blown episode. I can't wait.
"Summit" is out NOW on streaming platforms
Le Bone are set to release "Pink and Brown" in August
