Four piece rock band Haeze are fresh out of Southampton, currently working on three initial singles over the period of a few months. Their first offering, "Window In Time", released at the start of the month. With elements of stoner, grunge and psychedelic rock, the track lays strong foundations for the band.

The music gets straight in there, with distorted, fuzzy guitars playing a trance-like melody. It's monotonous, droning, but incredibly effective. Subtle percussion in the background adds a unique edge to the track, and by the vocals come in after almost a minute, the sound feels full. Everything is tight, everything flows seamlessly.

This is stoner rock at its finest - thick groove, heavy distortion, slow rhythm. It's easy to imagine the track accompanied by swirling visuals and a music video that may or may not make sense, added heaps of static or grain for bonus effect.

A sharp feedback noise cues a quick tempo change comes from out of nowhere, completely turning the track on its head. On first listen, it caught me off guard immediately. On third listen, it's a perfect transition, taking the track and descending it into a musical spiral. This should feel disjointed, but it doesn't.

The track loops back to the main riff that's been playing throughout for one last chorus, before ringing out in all its fuzzy glory.

The band doesn't strive for something new necessarily, but they succeed in perfectly encapsulating that psychedelic rock sound of the 70s. This is a great homage to a great era of music.

"Window In Time" is out NOW on streaming services
