There's something distinct about YOUR PERSONAL VENDETTA, their synth driven sound drenched in red-toned, cinematic aesthetics. After all, you don't cover "Cry Little Sister" without sounding a little bit sanguine. Their latest release, "Hero", sets the year off on a strong note, and certainly puts my 2026 reviews off to a good start.

Whilst it's not always my go-to, I'm a big fan of bands that push the 'alternative' description beyond just your standard guitars and distortion. Bands like Skynd (or on a smaller scale, Norwich-based Spineless) come to mind straight away, blending rock aesthetics with a more electronic sound. This is ultimately where Your Personal Vendetta excel, delivering a darkly cinematic sound that can easily soundtrack the next "Strange Darling".

Pulsing scarlet lights and an ominous sense of dread set the scene, each chorus the climactic release of emotional rage. This feels expressive, incredibly visual, a pulsating beat carrying the rhythm throughout.

It's clear that they have opted for more synths and atmospherics this time around, compared to some earlier, more instrument-driven releases, but this fits the track like a glove. The track finds the sweet spot between a dance floor and a slasher flick, straddling between unsettling and dance-able. It's music like this that music videos were invented for, as I can tell this is a band where the sound is only part of the product.

The lyric video (below) might begin to tease the visual identity of the track, but I'm still left wanting more. Here's hoping a full video (live or studio) may rise up soon.
