The Strongest Point Is Their Ability To Reel You In And Not Let Go: MYSTICIST Stay On Top Form With Heavy New Track "The Crown"

If MYSTICIST isn't already a familiar name, I'm hoping that that will change with the band's newest single, "The Crown". The Northants based band have built a heavy reputation thus far with previous tracks, and delightfully show no signs of slowing down with this latest release.
Perhaps the band's strongest point is their ability to reel you in and not let go, hitting relentlessly for the track's almost five minute duration. The first 20 seconds or so pique interest, and then a booming bass hit cues the brutality. There is a strong, aggressive energy carrying the track forth. The breakdown section around the three minute mark is just asking for a pit, and there are more than a few moments worthy of fist pumping, angrily commanding the crowd. It almost feels a disservice listening to this sitting down.
The good thing that I have always found with Mysticist is that they remain largely accessible. The heavier genres can become a bit muddier the further down the rabbit hole you go, but I find myself here enjoying what the band have to offer. Beneath the heaviness, there is still melody, and ornamented guitar work adds fresh dynamics. It's nestled nicely in the middle section of the metal and hardcore venn diagram.
2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Mysticist. Whilst not on this track, the band have now found a bassist in Mat Williams, beefing up their sound live. Mat also features in the music video, giving fans an idea of what to expect. And if they sound beefy on the record, well then, I'm surely in for a treat.
