I've always said there's a natural crossover between anime intros and metal songs, emphasised by bands like SIM and Babymetal. The latest from Japanese-British band Re:O, "Marionette", solidifies that thought, bringing a popular metal sound to a smaller, grassroots level.
This is the 11th single from the band, and so the refined sound is expected, but it still hits hard. The band blend melodic metal with electronic synth sounds, creating a unique atmosphere driven by the double kick rhythm.
Vocalist Rio approaches the lyrics in both Japanese and English, helping to convey the overall feel of the track and developing the world the band have created here.

"Marionette" sees the band find balance between the metal guitars and the glitchy synths, delivering a final sound that stands strong in their discography. I'm now left wanting some sort of action/horror/fantasy series about an evil puppet master.
Add that to your Crunchyroll watchlist.
