The set is a blistering run through of the band's first decade or so, blending live classics with lesser played tracks. Getting to hear "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" and "Phantom of the Opera" all in the same setlist is a delight.

Once a month, Ovation Wine Bar in Oakham becomes a hub for creativity, hosting a singer songwriter workshop that sees local musicians share ideas and songs. Launched in February, Rutland local CJ Hatt conceived the event with the idea of fostering a community of singer songwriters, bringing people together in an environment otherwise not accessible. 

For a band only coming to fruition in May 2024, Norwich based STRUCK A NERVE are already proving themselves a force to be reckoned with: debut single "Nocturnal Terror" put them on the map; follow-up release "Inside The Torture Fortress" continued the barrage; and now new release "Parade of Violence" puts the band on a hard hitting streak.

It was a sound that defined an era. Pioneered by bands like Maiden and Priest, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal shoved metal into the faces of people like never before. And whilst it may have dwindled in the context of the modern metal world, there are still blands flying the flag for a new age. One such band is TEMPEST SAINT, an energetic new answer to the NWoBHM staples.

For a three piece, Pinfinger are a force to be reckoned with. "Death Spiral" is just the beginning of their journey; this is a movement you want to get behind.

In places, the track heavily reminds me of "Diana" by Chelsea Wolfe (from DC's 'Dark Knights: Death Metal' soundtrack), balancing ethereal vocals with heavy, industrial instrumentation. Vocalist Ziggy Waldron floats effortlessly over the guitars, coming across as almost comforting to the listener. There are moments where angst is teased, but it never fully shows, instead simply adding to the dynamic.
